LAN: It stands for Local area network. It follows geographical boundary and it can be used within 0 to 10 km range. LAN generally used in cyber-café and small offices or used within a building.
LAN can be established guided or unguided communication. For guided transmission LAN used cable or wires and for unguided transmission use routers.

MAN: It stands for Metro politician network. It generally used in ATM or Banking servers. It establishes a network for the 0 to 50 km range. It also uses wire for networking.

WAN: It stands for Wide area network. It is also called WWW. WAN is an example of the internet. It doesn’t follow any geographical boundary. It usually requires a modem for connection. It allows establishing a connection with the help of wire, satellite, or other wireless communication media.

PAN: It stands for Personal area network. It establishes a network between two devices such as mobile phones, computers, and personal electronic digital components.

LAN, WAN, and MAN establish communication with the help of various topologies like Star topology, Bus topology, Ring topology, and Tree topology but PAN cannot use any Topology and client-server architecture.
